The Road to The Million: Going S.A.M. Day: 2,201

I actually got a few hours of gaming in today but that was early in the AM on Saints Row The Third and Shuffle Party WP7. Played absolutely nothing in the PM except for a few main menus (NCSI and Rex) and a lot of dashboard camping. We need to come up with a better name for dashboard campers.

Here's a little random gameplay footage from Saints yesterday. It's really hard not to love this game. An absolute riot! FIAJ FTW!

Thanks to Omega Deez for the end beat.

The Road to The Million: Going S.A.M. Day: 2,200

  • 6 Years, 9 days
  • 190,080,000 seconds
  • 3,168,000 minutes
  • 52,800 hours
  • 314 weeks

I think I got on my 360 at about 11:45PM and loaded up Saints Row 3. While I waited for Omega, I booted up my phone and downloaded the free Windows Phone game Shuffle Party. I played that for all of two minutes then probably got about 5 minutes of Saints Row 3 in before the clock struck midnight. I need a single commando kill and one more stage of survival to put a bow on Saints. So roughly 7 minutes of play time today and even less time than that to finish Saints....if I can find a commando to kill.  Send me a game invite if you have commandos to kill in your game.

S.T.A.G You ain't got no alibi you ugly
Eh! Hey! You ugly

It's my gamercard, and I'll cheer if I want to
Cheer if I want to, cheer if I want to
You would cheer too if you were in my shoes

Basically I was told I can't play Let's Cheer for Kinect from a friend on live. Said that he would take anyone off his Xbox LIVE friends list that were to play it. I'm here to change his mind.

The Road to The Million: Going S.A.M. Day: 2,199

I got roughly 20 minutes of gaming in today. Tried out Generator Rex and that just didn't do it for me. First impression: one of the worst games I've played in a while not counting Kinect games. To me it looks somewhat identical to Team Fortress 2 in graphics with all the orange colors and the non realistic models.

Gen Rex
TF2
To be fair I haven't given it a fair shake, nor did I even feel like playing. But it's highly unlikely that I will find enjoyment out of it.

I really can't say I went H.A.M at all today and this mini cold isn't helping but I'm trying to power through it. I feel like I'm about to hit a scoring slump but I'm trying to counteract that, I just don't know how. A light gun game sans a light gun is probably not helping since it's basically a big heaping pile of fail. I'm talking about Cabela's Survival: SoK and that is what I tried to play today. It plays like crap without the gun and really is no fun and the actual story mode is a joke in length. It's different from the other cabela's games, both a good and a bad thing, as there's a lot of clambering/shimming up icy rocks. I probably ended up getting a few hundred points today just going through the motions. There are a lot of achievements tied to the shooting gallery portion and that seems even less fun without the gun.

Moral of the story: get the damn light gun to play this game, it was the way it was intended to be played. The problem I have is this; I haven't gotten a new light gun in roughly 24 years. Is there a way to convert the zapper male end to USB? There needs to be. You can't hold those new guns with a side grip, the only way I roll.

    The Final Countdown

To reach a similar countdown I would need a gamerscore of 7,654,321. Not happening.

At almost 350,000 gamersocre away, I'm finally seeing a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel and that is a first. Still, 350,000 is a hell of a lot. The million is not going to happen overnight, or even in a year, but it will probably happen sooner than you think.

    Gamerscore Progress Update/Gamerscore Stuck

    Total Gamerscore: 639,927
    Total Achievements: 26,566
    Total Games Played: 950
    Total Completed Games: 536

It appears as if xbox.com is messed up pretty bad with an accurate tally of ones gamerscore. I'm off by 2,485.

What  makes matters even worse is my score seems to be stuck at 637,442 on xbox.com. I'm not alone because a lot of people are complaining about the same bug. Hopefully this gets straightened out sooner rather than later on Microsoft's end.

The scoring rate over the last few weeks is getting out of hand but I feel like I can do even more.  16 more days of GSL madness.

I have been pretty consistent over the last couple of weeks scoring at a decent rate but I'm hoping to pick it up for the rest of the month. However, that 666,666 gamerscore by Halloween is probably way out of reach now. If I get to 650,000 by then, I would be happy.

    Gamerscore Progress Update

I've neglected to do the daily bounties the last couple of weeks and I'm not sure if I can keep up with it over the next few months. The achievement pictures are done manually and It takes awhile just to do that. I'm trying to find a way to have it update automatically, which would be sweet.

A few weeks back I got horde master in Gears 2 JPN. All 29 maps Wave 1- 50 in horde. Takes ages.

    Dead Island Impressions

I've been playing the living hell out of Dead Island and I'm loving it.  If you like zombies, quests, gore, killing with melee weapons, 4 player co-op, and loot then you will more than likely enjoy it. Reminds me of Fallout 3, Borderlands, Left 4 Dead, and Dead Rising all mixed up. It's far from perfect and there are several problems that I would like to see ironed out for the sequel WHEN it does happen in a few years time.

The characters leave a lot to be desired and so do the graphics. Money is also a problem because I never seem to have enough. You basically spend all of your scratch on repairing weapons as they deteriorate extremely fast, which is very annoying because you are constantly fixing them. All. Of. The. Time.

My expectations were not very high for this game. I knew it had 4 player co-op and you get to kill zombies on an island which already had me sold. That amazing trailer from earlier this year drove the nail into the coffin and sold me even further. It is way better than I thought it would be. Much deeper.

This could be my favorite zombie game of all.

    Is it worth $60? Yes.

How about the achievements? Don't expect this to be a short completion because there is some grinding involved. Easily over 30 hours, but I wouldn't be surprised if it pushed the 50 hour mark.

    Daily Thingamabob

Check out my very first IGN article: My Top 10 Achievements from August list

That will be a monthly article so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I think it was much funnier before it hit the editors desk, but what do I know?

Still, I'm very happy to be writing for the biggest gaming website in the entire world. :)

I finally got some good quality gaming in last night. I played a few hours of Madden 12 and picked up a few whoppers with cheese.
I know what the ladies like....err...dudes. My achievements bring all the boys to the yard...

Madden is a buggy mess at the moment, it's constantly freezing up, but not to the point where it locks your system up completely. Thank goodness! The menus just get hung up and sometimes that will last for several minutes.

Thanks EA Tiburon! Now I need a hair piece to cover up my bald dome.

I also played a little Fight Game Rivals which is the new Windows Phone 7 game this week. I don't have a lot of good things to say about it. Achievement-wise it seems easy but long because of:

    Legendary

    Legendary

Win all tournaments with all fighters

    Déjà Vu

    Déjà Vu

Log in for 10 consecutive days

    Fighting Master

    Fighting Master

Buy all skills of every available fighter

I'm trying to get myself tuned up for an upcoming gamerscore league so I don't go into shock once I start gaming a lot more. Over the last 5 weeks I've only scored a total of 8,193 points.

That seems like weak sauce to the max.

    Daily Untitled Blog Post

I haven't done much gaming over the last couple of days but I plan to change that soon. I have both Madden 12 and Bodycount ready to play and there are also a truck load of arcade games being released tomorrow. DeathSpank returns with the Baconing which is the arcade highlight for me. We also get a new game for the Windows Phone 7.

Check out the IGN feature about me, How to Hit a Million Achievement Points

I must say, it was short and to the point, and I did not write the titles for those like Start Early ect. It was the authors views, not my own.

If he had said, tell me how you're going to get to a million and what does it take? The article would've been completely different.

    Just A Blog

I didn't get much gaming in yesterday for reasons mentioned in a previous blog post, but I got a little further into Deus Ex. It's probably a game you should pick up right now if you enjoy action, shooter, stealth or rpg games. Seriously, it's one of the best single player experiences around and very much worthy of a purchase. It's tight!

We, as in we I mean Phatal1ty, talk a lot more about Deus Ex on the next episode of The Gamerscore Popcast which was recorded from 4am to 7am EST earlier today. Talk about a horrible time to record, I may of said all of 5 words the entire show, hi and possibly bye, so don't expect much of anything from me. I really wasn't up for talking at all, but I wanted to be there.  Episode 3 will more than likely be posted on Sunday and on the show you will find details on how to win a download code for Alan Wake. Brilliant game if you haven't played it yet, so thanks to phatal1ty for providing that awesome treat for our listeners.

The blog post from yesterday was a good test for my facebook fans, nobody liked it, which in this specific case, was a good thing. :)

Time to play some games and work on a larger article, bounty from yesterday incoming.
